Job Description

The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, adhering to the rules and guidelines set by the school and Spur. The ideal candidate will have a friendly and approachable attitude, understanding the importance of supporting teachers and/or school staff in enhancing the learning environment for students. The primary duty of this position will be working alongside teachers and staff in their day-to-day activities. Candidates are expected to always represent the school and program in a positive professional manner. Duties expected of this position are:

• Assisting in the preparation of instructional materials and physical environment
• Assisting in planning and preparation for group and individual activities
• Supervising students as assigned, during instructional and non-instructional                 activities
• Providing individual and group instructional support to reinforce skills
• Providing enrichment and remedial assistance as required
• Assisting with testing and evaluation to determine student progress
• Participating in activities that will develop positive interaction in the instructional           process
• Performing other related tasks as assigned
• Must be able to stand for an extended period.
• Attend monthly required professional development training.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain a clear State of Alabama Background check
• Associate degree or higher with 9 credit hours being in early childhood or child development.
• Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.
• This position is a permanent position while the school year is in session (Aug.                2023-May 2024). The Pre-K Division has the option to rehire workers for the following school session (Aug. 2024-May 2025). The Pre-K Division will determine if they will rehire by July 2024. All qualifications for the position still apply for rehire.
